Youth Work

We run groups and activities for all ages, including:

Sunday Groups

Potters

Step up (Youth Synod)
The Youth Synod, aimed at ages 11-18, runs alongside the twice yearly York and Hull District Synod. The next date is 9th April 2016.

The theme for York and Hull Methodist District’s Step Up will be Holy Shoes. We will be taking part in a variety of sessions exploring this theme, as well as doing fun games and activities, worshipping, praying, getting to know each other. Some young people will be involved in a presentation to Main Synod about 3Generate, the Methodist Children and Youth Assembly. Bring your own lunch, but we will provide the cake, as usual. It promises to be a fun day for all! Click here to see our Facebook event – don’t forget to share it!

Other activities which our young people have been involved in in the past include:

Rwanda 2014

One of our young people, Chloe, spent 10 days in Rwanda this August. The trip was tough emotionally, as it involved visiting 16 families in poverty and spending time with children who are sponsored through RwandaChild by people in the UK. It was amazing to see the difference sponsorship makes to the life of a family and how it gives people hope for the future.

ReBuild Mexico

In 2011 a group of 5 young people/leaders from Pickering Methodist Church travelled to Mexico to build a home for a family (see Chloe’s account here).  The experience was a life changing and faith building one and they returned to build a house for another family in March/April 2013. The 2013 group was made up of 10 young people/leaders and they met up with a group from West Leigh, Essex, whom the first group had met on the 2011 trip. They are thinking of going again in 2015, so please pray that, if is the right thing to happen, it will, and the right people will be involved.

Their Facebook page is still available here.
