We have recently embarked on an ambitious project to make our church more “community-centred”. The main chapel area will stay largely the same but the rooms behind will be radically upgraded and altered to make the area much more user-friendly for the groups who regularly use it.
Our church is already a centre for much community activity – brownies, guides, playgroups, church groups – and the changes we are planning have those groups in mind. However, we also hope that the new area will attract other groups, bringing the community together even more.
We will be creating a new kitchen and “café-style” area, a meeting room, new toilets and updating the large hall. Once the changes are complete we hope our church will be an even more valuable resource for the residents of Pickering and surrounding villages.
Of course this will require a great deal of effort and funding but we are confident that this is the right thing to do. We will update the website and Facebook with news of fund-raising events in the area. If you think you can help us by hosting an event, helping make cakes, novelties etc to sell at church events, or simply by lending a hand occasionally, we would be very grateful.

May 2016 As part of our fundraising efforts for the Church Redevelopment Project, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £1000 by Persimmon Homes Yorkshire as winners of their Community Champions scheme.
We have also been awarded £30,000 by Ryedale Methodist Circuit.
June 2016 One of our local papers The Gazette and Herald is running an article about the project. Here’s some of the photos taken by their photographer on 9th June:

A big day for the Redevelopment Project! We held our Civic Launch Event which was attended by many local people who have an interest in our plans. We were able to show people around the church, explain the architect plans and discuss how the new-look building will vastly improve our ability to serve the community. All followed by a fabulous buffet provided by members of the church.
